I should team up with this person. Between my collection of vintage knob-tuned teevees, and their collection of vintage bunny ears, we have… something?

Do you have it?
Insuring your domicile is one thing, but what about insuring all the stuff inside it?
I spent last night trying to tease a dollar amount out of all the things in my house, and I gotta say, it was a lot harder than I thought it would be. The most interesting thing about the process is realizing how much stuff you’ve accumulated throughout your life, and how much stuff you take for granted. Clothes and books and electronics immediately come to mind when taking inventory, but towels, and plates, and everything else needs to be included as well.
For my part, figuring out the value (beyond sentimental) of all my various collections was the biggest problem. Between the mister and myself, we have an extensive collection of classic and current videogames and consoles, CDs, DVDs, and books. He also has comic books and comic book cards, while I have records and artwork. Our house is full of mid mod Danish furniture, and while I see the going rates (which vary wildly from dealer to dealer and city to city), finding an actual dollar value is difficult.
I suppose that having an appraisal might be useful, at least for certain things. Do any of you have experience with that? How about with insuring collections?
